Continuing with an objective of making people aware of their entitlements under various enactments and welfare schemes in accordance to the constitutional mandate of access to justice for all, Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiran Rijiju today inaugurated a Mega Legal Awareness and Services Camp at ITI Pattan. The camp was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Baramulla under the aegis of JK Legal Services Authority with an active collaboration of District Administration.

Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Executive Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority and Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh were present on the occasion.

At the outset of his visit to Baramulla district, the minister inspected various stalls installed by different departments disseminating necessary information besides services rendered to the concerned stakeholders. While inspecting the stalls, he urged all the public authorities and semi-govt registered institutions to connect with the marginalized and targeted sections of the society living below the line of poverty with different social welfare and poverty alleviation schemes being provided by central and UT Government as well as with different banks and financial institutions.

The Union Minister on the occasion handed over various benefits to the beneficiaries of Health, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Education and other departments. Golden Cards under Ayushman Bharat scheme, Job Cards, Registration Certificates, School bags and books were also distributed by the Union Minister.

While addressing on the
occasion, the minister complimented the efforts of UT Administration and District Legal Services Authority for providing hassle free services to the people especially weaker sections of the society. He said that the Union Government and JK UT administration is duty bound to provide justice to every section of the society and said that the Legal Services Authority is doing a commendable job in this regard.

Kiren Rijiju stressed for making every endeavor and effort to make availability of ‘Justice for all’ a reality as per the mandate of the constitution. The minister said that access to justice is important for ensuring the protection of rights of the citizens under various enactments and Social welfare schemes.

He further said that the present dispensation is regularly monitoring the implementation of the social services and welfare Schemes being provided to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on ground level. He further said that Jammu and Kashmir is progressing tremendously in every field and the need of the hour is to provide social services besides justice at doorstep to every citizen of the society.

Moreover, the minister also praised the efforts of district administration baramulla and health department for achieving a milestone in Ayushmann Bharat Scheme with 82% of achievement so far in issuing Golden Cards.

On the occasion, Executive Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey said that the main objective of organizing such camps was to make people in general and poor and weaker sections of the society in particular aware of their entitlements under various enactments and welfare Schemes being provided to them. He further stressed that earlier we were focusing on creating awareness and now there is a paradigm shift from awareness to empowerment. Every effort is being made to ensure access to justice is ensured, he added.

Law Secretary J&K, Achal Sethi, Member Secretary J&K Legal Service Authority, M.K. Sharma, Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla (Chairman DLSA), Mohammad Yousaf Wani, District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Rayees Mohammad Bhat, CJM Sopore Faizan-Ul-Haque Iqbal, and Secretary DLSA Sayeem Qayoom besides district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
